Every season we follow the trends—we believe that the ready-to-wear trends to inspire what your children will be wearing. Below are our favorite trends from the runway that are sure to be seeing a lot of this season for les petites.

FlowerChild That 70s Show

We heart the throw-back to the 70s for littles as well as ourselves. Flared pants, paisley, embroidered vests and crochet will have us channeling the flowerchild vibe. This is best worn as accents here and there to avoid appearing costume-y. We are feeling the love and peace with this trend.

FunkyFloralsFunky Florals

Florals of some sort always make their way down the spring runways, but we’re sensing the 70s with vivid hues and abstract mash-ups. Adding a few of these pieces will punch up the spring wardrobe and we promise your girls will love it.

gingham Gingham

We’re not in Kansas anymore with this classic-turned-cool print. This trend works for boys in girls in all shapes and sizes; From micro-checks to large-scale prints. Check mate!

BallerinaTiny Dancer

This is one of our favorite trends for girls. Soft-flowing fabrics and neutral tones of ivory and soft pink translate perfectly into spring. Thanks to fashion’s best, its now official, ballet flats and tutus work for any occasion!

DenimGood Jeans

Denim is no longer considered weekend-wear. Look for more unexpected pieces made from denim, such as shoes and classic silhouettes like dresses. This once casual fabric is now a fashion powerhouse, so have fun with seeking more fashion-forward denim pieces for both boys and girls.

yellowYellow

Vibrant yellow is trend we are seeing through many childrenswear brands, the color exudes the warmth and cheerfulness of spring. Try it out with a dress or cardigan for girls and pants or shorts for boys (see Bonpoint’s spring collection for garçon)… “Because I’m happy”!

So the saying goes… This March the lion is certainly rearing its head as we enter into the spring season.  Though we are craving warm-weather clothing, now is actually a great time to take advantage of end-of-season sales and buy a size up for next year (added bonus that you can get some wear still this year).  Alex and Alexa has a lovely assortment of way marked down sweaters for your little guy to ensure he looks fierce.—CC

These skirts from MiniBoden are just the type of spring/summer essential our girls would like to wear and have the whimsy of a fairy tale .  Looks just right worn with a striped tee and sandals—this skirt is easy, breezy and brings the twirl factor.  It also happens to remind us of this gorgeous (but pricier) brand from London, Poppy.  Experience has shown us that items like this sell out at Boden, so grab this up fast.—CC

Cabbages and Kings has us craving both spring AND a trip a trip to Mexico.  We love just about everything from this Spring Summer line.  This line is focused on quality and aesthetic but their Fair Trade principles are most important to the brand.  Among our picks for spring are the rompers for both boys and girls and the handmade in Mexico ‘manta’ cotton dresses.

When crewcuts sent a package with a few pieces from their new American Museum of Natural History Tees along with tickets to the epic museum, I knew this would be a total hit with Sloane.  Last week, off went for our adventure to the NYC landmark, which happens to be one of Sloane’s favorite places on earth.  Of course we contemplated which shirt she would wear (gems vs. dinosaurs) and finally the dinosaur tee won out.  Some pics of our outing below and check out this limited edition collection of t-shirts inspired by the curators’ archives.  Even if you haven’t been able to (yet) visit this museum with your little one, at least you can feel historic putting them in something from the collection. xxNatalie

After paying a visit to the adorable baby Vaughan yesterday, I noticed a cozy little powder blue sleeping bag in his stroller bassinet.  Christin revealed to me it was given to her, so of course I scoured the internet only to find its no longer available.  However, I did come across some other good options at The Children Salon, perfect for cozying up your little one in his or her stroller during the early days. xxNatalie

While supposedly spring is six weeks away, for those of us in the frozen tundra of the east coast, at least we can dream of warmer days ahead with Bonpoint‘s just-debuted Spring/Summer collection.  As you know, we look to this brand to set the tone for the season and start our wish lists.  From reviewing the collection, it seems we can look forward to neon, gingham, school-boy shapes, and a boho-hint of the 70s.  Here are some of our favorite looks.  J’adore!—CC
