Sophie’s Perfect NYC DAY, by Kelly Florio (exclusively for ChicChild)
There is nothing better than playing dress up, and what better place than NYC! My city uniform involves a Bonpoint peacoat, opaque tights in any bright hue, and a pair of sparkly crewcuts flats. As soon as you hit the streets of Manhattan, start shopping. First, check out the vintage in Nolita at stores like Amarcord, Frock, and Revolution. After playing dress-up, make your way to Tory Burch on Elizabeth and stock up on some Reva flats, which come in all sizes. Then make your way to Mulberry for a delicious cannoli, but try not to spoil your appetite, because you can’t deny yourself a feast at Da Silvano. My favorites are the steamed artichoke and the osso buco.
A trip to the Costume Institute at the Met is a must. Talk about the ultimate closet! Fashion is a living, growing, evolving aspect of our culture—and what better way to see the story and process than going to the best museum in the world! After visiting the Costume Institute, be sure to make a stop on the rooftop of the Met for 360-degree views of the city. In the warmer months, there is live music in addition to the beautiful, three-dimensional exhibits. And end your day with a I love three dimensional art! It’s like a living diorama. Then take a break at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park. Enjoy some Italian ice, watch the rowboats, and savor the memories of a flawless NYC day.
