Beard worked in finance until the birth of her third child in 2005. Now a mother of 5—three girls and two boys, all under 9 years old!—she is a firm believer in the kind of uniform dressing seen in her collection, Veronica Beard, which she designs with her sister-in-law, Veronica Swanson Beard. A resident of the West Village, Beard is often spotted with her brood in classes at the American Museum of Natural History, Little League games at Pier 40, and ballet class at the Joffrey. She is also involved with organizations such as Baby Buggy and Conservation International.
